Pretty soon after joining BMP we were given a problem brief;turning the Walkers tv into posters.The problem was the mandatories a) The line 'No more Mr Nice Guy' ,b) Show Gary Lineaker.Not much wriggle room.Show Gary people who aren't nice, people that have a look or graphics we could use.It was quite an easy, addictive thing to work on; Think of someone bad who Gary could be, then nick their graphic look and feel.It's always a good sign when other creatives pitch in ideas without being asked, in this instance most of the department nasty guy posters.We got excited and ended up presenting a huge pile to the Walkers client.The Walkers client didn't share our excitement and shelved the idea of using posters.In retrospect I can completely understand it, we were presenting them with a huge pile of problems;depicting their brand icon as a Nazi, Murderer or child's nightmare - The Child Catcher, (Richard Flintham & Andy Mcleod), and once they had come to terms with that we were asking them to negotiate with Cubby Brocolli, (james Bond), Stanley Kubrick or Marvel Comics and the like.I think in the end they ran a packshot and line.
